What’s your style? Substance. What makes you unique? Leathersmiths who truly stitch by hand and not machine are few and far between. How do you offer that je ne sais quoi? Quality materials is the key. I offer people an honest to goodness alternative to the junk that ends up as landfill. They always say in retail you should wear what you sell? My favourite belt is one I made years ago in English bridle leather. It gets better with age. What’s your personal style? Black T-shirt, jeans and a well worn pair of leather shoes. Simple, unpretentious, practical, elegant. All qualities I include in the things
I make. What’s the sharpest thing you own? The camel leather fly swatter I made that hangs under the kitchen sink. It’s a symphony of quality, engineering and construction that gets the job done in style. When you think style in the Highlands, where do you go for a drink? Locals Night at E2 Events in Berrima every Friday. Dinner or lunch out? A cod pie (or any pie) from the Two Skinny Cooks in Berrima or a lasagne from the General Store in Berrima, followed by an excellent espresso. Present for a loved one? I would make it.
